Description

Moldavite – freeform, 10–15 mm

Moldavite is natural glass formed by the impact of a meteorite in the Nördlinger Ries about 15 million years ago, found only in southern Bohemia and the adjacent Upper Palatinate. Mohs hardness 5.5 to 6.5.

Freeforms are cut without a template, so no two pieces match – good for one-offs, but stringing takes a little patience.

Care: clean with lukewarm water and a soft cloth, then wipe dry. An ultrasonic bath is not necessary for natural stone.
